American punk bands like The Ramones and Pere Ubu were taking the world by storm and creating not only a new music generation but delivering it with so much passion, angst and fervor that the world had no choice but to stand up, take notice and get in the pit. Following up with a second wave of American punk, Dead Kennedys were at the height of it by establishing music that was speaking to such disastrous international issues as terrorism, violence to children and adults in third world nations and an energy crisis. Needless to say, DK had plenty of gasoline for their lyrical fire which brought the whole music industry to a newly heightened and evolved level.
As their lyrics still ring true in today’s political situations and armed with new front man, Ron “Skip” Greer (formerly of fellow East Bay punk band; Wynona Riders,) Dead Kennedys are touring with original members East Bay Ray on guitar, DH Peligro on drums and Klaus Flouride on bass. Their newest lineup has been creating positive waves of review that has fueled a string of shows taking them as far away as Hawaii and bringing them as close as Melbourne, Florida.
